TSAT Mission Operations System (TMOS)- San Jose, CA opportunities
We believe that by applying the highest business ethics and visionary thinking - everything is within our reach, and yours. Like creating systems vital to the safety and security of our nation. Like shaping the latest technological breakthroughs that redefine defense, information technology, and commercial business. Like delivering countless systems and products that reflect the best ideas of people around the globe. This is our view at Lockheed Martin. We'd like to learn yours.
Under the TMOS contract awarded in January 2006, Lockheed Martin is responsible for the architecture, design and integration of the Transformational Satellite Communications (TSAT) information and network operations infrastructure.
TMOS embraces commercial open standards and a service oriented architecture (SOA) to enable future growth. The development of a new generation of terminals operating as nodes on the network will enable rich connectivity and information sharing of voice, video, and data worldwide. TMOS will assure real-time connectivity for users and provide the functionality required for growing user needs, changing policies, and critical missions. Success of this enterprise requires that activities be synchronized across the space, network, terminal, and NETOPS acquisition and operations domains.TMOS delivers capability at the earliest effective point, and serves to synchronize multiple system acquisitions across the Department of Defense.
In preparation for initial TSAT launch, the joint government and contractor team is working an aggressive risk reduction program and maturing a detailed network architecture which includes developing a TSAT Prototype Network. Space-based communications networks provide operational advantages as our country continues its global war on terror and traditional military roles. TSAT represents the first major step towards actual implementation of network centric communications highlighted by bandwidth on demand, inter-connectivity and inter-operability. With its ability to increase the combat capability of the platforms, sensors, weapons, war fighters and decision makers that it connects, TSAT will provide a critical national resource.
