INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Lockheed Martin is a leader in the application of every area of information technology and we are one of the federal government's leading IT providers. In all of our business areas around the country and the globe, our IT professionals work in great numbers to design, install and support all of the leading-edge technical infrastructures behind our vast daily operations.

These professionals include: Network Engineers, Network Analysts, Network Support Technicians, Enterprise Architects, Application Analysts, Desktop Support, Help Desk Analysts, Database Administrators, ERP Business Analysts and Business Process Analysts, to name a few.

Our primary areas of focus within Information Technology include:
Business Process management
E-government Solutions
Enterprise Architecture
Homeland Security
Information Assurance
Systems Integration

• Business Process Management
Lockheed Martin is a leading provider in this area, responsible for managing the critical, non-core business functions for a variety of civil and defense customers. As an IT professional, you could help to build the systems that manage the FAA's entire chain of automated flight service stations; or enable the systems that manage the distribution of billion of dollars of monthly payments to military retirees and their annuitants. Or, you could work on the systems for the Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection, processing non-immigrant data from U.S. points of entry, including alien change-of-address forms.

• E-government Solutions
Preserving American heritage:
At Lockheed Martin, we are developing the archival solution that will enable preservation of any government e-record for America's National Archives and Records Administration, using any software application, running on any platform for the life of the republic.

Secure wireless and mobile communications:
Our IT professionals have designed secure technology solutions incorporating handheld wireless communication devices and mobile applications so emergency responders, environmental cleanup engineers and soldiers have real-time access to decision-quality data at their fingertips.

Helping families:
We have built systems to help the Office of Child Support Enforcement identify and locate parents who have failed to live up to their financial obligations, returning billions annually in unpaid child support to American families nationwide.

Contributing to environmental stewardship:
We are enabling the Environmental Protection Agency and over a dozen federal agencies to make the federal regulation writing and docket management processes available to the public online.

• Enterprise Architecture
Lockheed Martin implemented numerous innovative solutions that help to define enterprise architecture in the federal government. Our enterprise architecture solutions were used by the U.S. Navy's enterprise human capital management efforts. A major automated information system, the Navy Standard Integrated Personnel System is responsible for performing pay/personnel functions for over 400,000 sailors on ship and shore.

The Defense Department's Civilian Personnel Management Service selected us to maintain and operate its Defense Civilian Personnel Data System. The world's largest Oracle-based HR system, DCPDS supports the human resources needs of 825,000 employees worldwide.

• Homeland Security
Our Homeland Security and Homeland Defense capabilities and solutions continue to grow to meet ever-changing security threats. We are helping to secure America's vital assets including transportation systems, food and water supply and critical services such as healthcare, law enforcement and emergency services.

As an IT professional in this area, you may lead major modernization and integration programs for key customers such as the U.S. Coast Guard, Transportation Security Administration, Customs and Border Protection Agency, Federal Aviation Administration and state and local governments.

Lockheed Martin has provided the technology that guards borders, integrates threat information, protects critical infrastructures and provides maritime surveillance. We are also safeguarding electronic systems that are susceptible to viruses, hacking and identity and information theft.

Whether it's providing satellite imagery to track threats, developing systems to analyze complex security data or deploying fingerprint ID technology for rapid first response, we offer the depth of expertise and technological capabilities to help protect our homeland.

• Information Assurance
Designing and building robust information assurance requires the insight and innovation of the best and brightest minds in the industry. Our information assurance architects, engineers and technology professionals are well educated, evaluated and certified in high-demand areas such as Identity and Access Management, with an extensive understanding of authentication and authorization technologies.

Designing and implementing Secure Operating Centers for our customers, our information assurance experts understand the dependencies needed to stay at the forefront of emerging technologies. Our information assurance researchers are continuously investigating new products and trends such as Web services security and biometric identification.

We use established information assurance processes when deploying or maintaining a customer's security infrastructure. These include trade studies to select and integrate the best technologies as well as testing for security vulnerabilities and ensuing Certification and Accreditation.

At Lockheed Martin, we engage our own research and development in the field of information assurance. Right now, an initiative is underway that focuses on key pieces of the information assurance for the Global Information Grid-a capability that will soon be showcased at our Center for Innovation.

• Systems Integration
Our expertise in this area spans thousands of government and commercial field locations in the U.S. and abroad; integrating complex, mission-critical systems for civil engineers, armed forces and other customers.

Comprehensive systems engineering and integration processes are central to incorporating our objectives and ensuring that the resulting procured systems satisfy consumer needs; increase user productivity; are easier to manage; are compatible with existing systems and infrastructure; integrate with the resources, planning and project control processes; are scaleable and comply with government standards.

Our framework reflects robust systems engineering that is enhanced for net-centric operations. Our decades of system engineering, modeling, simulation and analysis expertise provide the foundation for our customers to realize improved efficiency, enhanced security, reduced cost and, ultimately, transformational information age success.
